Recap 2013/Bilan 2013 de Cupcake Camp Paris IV

It was a bright and blustery day when Cupcake Camp Paris rolled back into town for its 4th edition.  Inside Café A, the air was filled with scents of chocolate, rose, fleur d’oranger, peanut butter and much more as the bakers showed off their wares.  We are grateful to the 60+ bakers, both professionals and amateurs, who supported the event this year – they baked over 1800 cupcakes and helped us raise around 4,400 euros for the charity Make a Wish France.  Their creations were both tasty and beautiful. We couldn’t help but notice the look of contentment on the faces of many attendees who indulged in their purchases while walking around taking it all in.

We were delighted to see so many familiar faces – both bakers and attendees -- many of whom have been present for the 4 consecutive editions of Cupcake Camp Paris!

This year, bakers had the choice of 4 different contests to compete in.  By 2PM, when the contests started, the tables were filled with dozens of culinary works of art while the crowd eagerly awaited the judges’ decisions.  Congratulations to the winners:  Caroline for her Roi Soleil cupcakes (Best Cupcake Inspired by a Famous Moment in French History), Sofiane for his Pumpkin cupcakes (Best Autumn-Themed Cupcake), Soria for her Istambul-inspired rose-pistachio cupcakes (Best Cupcake Made with the Most Exotic Ingredient) and Berenice for her ginger-honey-lemon cupcakes (Best Cupcake Made with a Root Vegetable).

Much thanks to our judges who bravely stuffed themselves all in the name of charity:  Vanessa from Hard Rock Café, Lindsey of Lost in Cheeseland, Gary from France Revisited, Paul of Cake & Bake Accessories, Marina of Once Upon a Cake, Anais of Bertie’s Cupcakery, Lily from Context Travel, Marie of Marie LuvPink, Noelie of Paris New York TV, and Anna, a cupcake lover who represented the voice of the people – her  boyfriend wrote us a week before the event asking if she could judge; he wanted to surprise her for her birthday!  Aw!

By mid-afternoon, Cupcake Camp Paris IV was in full swing.  There was barely room to circulate but the crowd didn’t seem to care as they shuffled to and fro around the tombola table, which was piled high with fantastic prizes, from our partners (chec em out!). They wandered to table to table to ooh and ah over the beautiful cupcakes and then to the front of the room where American Musical Theatre Live performed Christmas carols and other delightful melodies.

It goes without saying that Cupcake Camp Paris wouldn’t be the success it is without the generous participation of all the bakers, corporate partners, volunteers who assist at the event, and the attendees who come to eat.  We thank you all for your continued support of this annual cupcake celebration and fund-raiser for the children of Make a Wish France!  Thank you too to Café A for graciously opening their doors to us this year! Last but not least, a profound thank you to our sponsors, without whom this event could not be possible:  Aokily Cakes & Cupcakes, Bertie’s Cupcakery, Colunching, Context Travel, FUSAC, La Cuisine Paris, My American Market, Paris Pastry, Sugar Daze Bake Shop, and Sweetly Cakes.

Don’t forget to share your experiences with us!

Et en français? Voici:
